Stained Glass Art for Beginner Adults
This is the perfect place for adults new to Stained Glass Art and want to learn how it is done from A to Z. During this course, each participant will complete a Stained Glass Sun-catcher project of easy to moderate difficulty. Taught within our exclusive Glass Art Studio space, our class size is kept small, focusing on having fun with Stained Glass and learning to do it well and safely. Tools and equipment for cutting, grinding, and soldering are provided, as well as a selection of colorful Stained Glass.
This project takes 5 classes to complete.

Stained Glass Panel for Returning Adults.
For returning students to Stained Glass Art. The participants will design and complete a Stained Glass Panel project of easy to moderate difficulty. Students who are looking to advance their design, cutting, and soldering skills will love this class. Tools and equipment for cutting, grinding, and soldering are provided, as well as a selection of Stained Glass.
This project takes 6 classes to complete.

Stained Glass Art Studio Time
If you would like to continue exploring the world of stained glass outside of a structured class, studio time is for you! See details below.
Eligibility: You must have completed the Beginner Stained Glass Class at Monroe Street Studio (or prove that you have an experience working with glass and tools) prior to accessing studio time.
Payment: $20/hour. Pay $200 upfront for 10 hours of studio time (this pass is valid for 3 months). Pay by check (made out to Arts Center LLC) or by credit/debit card. The studio time host (Sydelle Keisler) will track your hours.
Times Offered: Saturdays, 11-2pm; Tuesdays 7-8:30pm (must contact Sydelle Keisler, [email protected] to confirm studio availability before arriving).
Materials and Tools Provided: Grinders, glass cutters, pliers, homasote boards, soldering irons, scrap glass, safety goggles, apron, flux.
Materials YOU are responsible for providing: Glass sheets (available for purchasing at the studio) , foil, solder, chain, jump rings, frames, patina.
Safety: You must always wear safety goggles and close-toed shoes.
Working Environment: Please be courteous to others and ask before playing music.
Storage: Storage space will be provided for you as you work on your project. We do not have the opportunity to store abandoned projects, so if your project is left for one month, we will contact you to collect your piece. If you do not come to pick up your piece, it will be recycled.
Glass Mosaic Art
Unwind and embrace your creativity with our terracotta plate art class! Dive into the relaxing world of colorful, functional art as you design a unique masterpiece. Learn to prepare your materials using a rich array of stained glass scraps, and enhance them with pre-cut elements. Master the finishing techniques and bask in the pride of crafting your own beautiful bird feeder or a decorative plate – a perfect accent for your patio or fireplace. Your imagination is your only limit!
Glass Mosaic Masterpiece for Adults.
Monroe Street Studio invites beginner and returning adult students to learn how to create their own Glass Mosaic Art. Students will learn extensively about Glass Mosaic tools, techniques, and design development in order to create their own beautiful and unique designs on a decorative terracotta plate. A large selection of pre-cut materials will be available as well as an endless source of stained glass for practicing with cutting and grinding stained glass in order to incorporate in to their original design. The students will also have an opportunity to finish their masterpieces by grouting them at the studio (optional).
All materials are provided.

Academic Drawing for Adults (Beginners & Intermediate)
This intensive course is for adults who want to develop or improve their drawing skills.
Challenge yourself by experimenting with cross etching and charcoal. Gypsum casts and still life compositions will be used in a range of drawing experiences to study and apply concepts of composition, perspectives, proportions and volume. Studio Owner and Art Teacher Yana Farmer provides individual guidance to help each participant build skill proficiency.

Sewing for Beginners - Adults
Let’s learn about all that your sewing machine can do! In this class, we will teach you the fundamental skills of sewing with a sewing machine, including sewing machine anatomy and safe operation, essential stitches, fabric properties, seam awareness, using rotary cutters and shears, and basic measurements for drafting simple shapes. We will learn how to create anything from potholders to quilts, and we will use our artistic minds to stitch together colorful fabrics and make projects we love. This course welcomes beginner students to learn sewing skills as well as have fun while practicing this craft. We are looking forward to helping you feel confident while using the sewing machine!
Needles are one of the tools to create an art object! Join our sewing class and learn an ancient art with a modern twist.
In this short course, we will learn the following:
- Machine anatomy, learning how to correctly use all parts of the sewing machine
- Threading the machine
- Changing the feet and needles
- Adjusting and fine-tuning your machine for different projects
- Purposes of different types of stitches
- Types of fabrics and how to handle each
- Sewing fabrics together
- Quilting blocks and quilting techniques (e.g. “sew as you go”)

Attendance policy: Due to the nature and continuous presentation and refinement of new skills and techniques covered in these program, we ask that students do their very best to attend all classes within a session. At the end of the session, there will be a makeup opportunity for anyone who has missed a class for whatever reason within that session. We will no longer be issuing credits or refunds when two or more classes are missed due to student schedule conflicts or illness. Students who are aware that they might miss two or more classes should discuss the situation with the Studio prior to registering for the class.
