In this hands-on class, young artists will explore a variety of exciting art techniques—acrylic and watercolor painting, drawing with pencils and charcoal, oil and dry pastels. But that’s not all – experience the joy of printmaking, collage, and clay modeling. It’s the perfect creative space for children to try new materials, express themselves, and build confidence while having fun!

At Monroe Street Studio, we offer a welcoming and creative space for homeschool students to explore art during the day. Our classes are designed to nurture creativity, build artistic skills, and provide a social, engaging environment where students can connect and express themselves.

Multimedia Art Class for Intermediate/Advanced Students (Age 10+) - Saturdays
Our Saturday Multimedia Art Class for Intermediate & Advanced Students (Ages 10+) is designed for young artists ready to take their creativity and technical skills to the next level. In this engaging 1.5-hour class, students work on a wide variety of creative projects, including painting, drawing, mixed media, and clay modeling, while exploring more advanced artistic techniques, concepts, and materials such as acrylics, watercolor, oil pastels, charcoal, ink, and other dynamic media. Through both guided instruction and independent work, students deepen their understanding of composition, perspective, shading, proportion, color theory, and creative problem-solving in a supportive and inspiring environment. Drawing
Step into the realm of artistic mastery with our drawing classes with classes for every skill level! In these classes, you will journey through the fundamental techniques of drawing, an art form celebrated for its ability to capture the essence of the world around us.
Academic Drawing & Painting for Advanced Students (Youth) - Mondays
The Program is designed for Art Students who have demonstrated skills, focus, and maturity beyond an intermediate level. Our students are typically, but not always, in their upper-middle or high school years. They are interested in developing, building, or expanding their portfolio in a creative and encouraging environment of a professional art studio.
This course requires a portfolio review for new students. If you would like to register your young Artist, please email us at art@monroesstreetstudio.com. Please include your child’s name and up to six samples of their art work.

Crochet for Children
Crochet is more than just a craft—it’s a fun and relaxing way to create something special with your hands. Using just a hook and yarn, students will learn how to turn simple loops into beautiful shapes, patterns, and useful items. This ancient art has been passed down for generations, and now young makers can enjoy the magic too! Crochet helps build focus, creativity, and confidence—one stitch at a time.
Crochet, Knitting & Sewing for Young Students (Age 8 +)
Step into the magical world of thread and fabric! In this fun and hands-on class, young makers will learn the basic skills of crochet, knitting, and sewing—three timeless arts with a fresh, modern twist. From creating simple stitches to finishing their very first handmade piece, students will explore the joy of working with yarn, needles, and fabric. They’ll build confidence, patience, and creativity while crafting fun projects like key charms, mini bags, soft toys, and even wearable accessories! No experience needed— all you need is a little curiosity and a big love for making magic with your hands!

Clay Art Class
Immerse your hands in clay and connect with Mother Earth in our engaging pottery program! Here, you’ll learn ancient hand-building techniques to create pottery masterpieces, each uniquely yours. Alongside this, we’ll explore the intricate world of glazing and firing, adding depth to your creations and enriching your artistic journey with lasting memories.
Clay Art for Children
Monroe Street Studio offers an exciting course for children who are happy to dip their hands in clay to create fun projects. Using ancient hand-built pottery techniques your young sculpture artist will create unique one-of-a-kind clay artworks and finish them professionally. Students will learn the entire process of pottery making including modeling, glazing, and firing. The beautiful, shiny, final collectible artwork will hold the warmth of your child’s hands for many years and the experience will be unforgettable.
Each course comprises four classes and includes two or three kiln firings.

Sewing Art Class
Transform the ordinary into extraordinary at Monroe Street Studio with our sewing arts program! Dive into the world of quilting, create adorable stuffed toys, fashion wearable accessories, and stylish clothes. Embrace the charm of upcycling, from reviving old jeans to preserving cherished traditions like sewing, knitting, and crocheting. It’s all about crafting art with every stitch!
Sewing Class for Homeschooled Students
Students in this class practice hand sewing and sewing machine operating skills while creating several fun projects like stuffed toys, home decor, wearable accessories and even clothing. Lessons will include sewing tool safety, essential hand stitches, marking and cutting fabric, basic measuring and drafting of simple shapes, as well as a teacher-assisted sewing machine tour. If desired, students can try their hand at knitting and crocheting. Small class sizes ensure personal attention from Sewing Teacher and focus on supporting individual skill and knowledge building.
Sewing Class for Children - After School
Sewing is another great way to be creative, and a useful skill as well!
Join our sewing program for children and learn an ancient art with a modern twist. We teach basic machine and hand sewing techniques to children 10 years old and older (mature younger students with experience may also join).
In this short course, you will learn the following:
- Threading the machine
- Purposes of different types of stitches (hand and machine made)
- Types of fabrics and how to handle each.
Participants will be able to choose from among several different projects being offered. Sew the fabrics together and proudly enjoy the result!
All materials and tools will be provided.

Attendance policy: Due to the nature and continuous presentation and refinement of new skills and techniques covered in these program, we ask that students do their very best to attend all classes within a session. At the end of the session, there will be a makeup opportunity for anyone who has missed a class for whatever reason within that session. We will no longer be issuing credits or refunds when two or more classes are missed due to student schedule conflicts or illness. Students who are aware that they might miss two or more classes should discuss the situation with the Studio prior to registering for the class.
